APPENDIX A
CAR RENTAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- The Rental Agreement is the document you sign and receive either as an electronic copy via your email or in printed form at the service point upon vehicle pickup. It includes the rental details and by signing it, you confirm the accuracy of the information and accept the General Terms and Conditions stated in the Rental Agreement, as well as the present Rental Terms.
- The basic charge applies to a 24-hour rental period, for the non-“full season” period (from April until July 10 and from September 15 until October). During the full season, i.e., from July 10 to September 15, the vehicle must be returned on the agreed date and no later than 10:00 a.m. After 10:00 a.m., the customer will be charged for one (1) additional rental day. A delayed return may be accepted only upon prior arrangement.
The basic charge includes: Unlimited mileage, free second driver, 24-hour roadside assistance, third-party liability insurance with deductible (C.D.W., collision damage waiver covering damages over €500), taxes, VAT, and fees, or optionally, full damage waiver (F.D.W.) with an extra cost of €20/day, upon special agreement between the parties. Under F.D.W., the customer bears no cost in the event of vehicle damage.
- All reservations are made based on vehicle categories and not on specific brand, model, or fuel type.
- The minimum acceptable age is 21 years for all categories up to category E, and 26 years for categories E and above (large and/or luxury vehicles). The driver must hold a valid driving license for at least one year prior to the start of the rental.
- To collect the vehicle, the driver must present an original ID card or passport, a valid original driving license, and a credit/debit card for payment and deposit purposes.
- Any cancellation of the reservation, for any reason, must be made at least fourteen (14) days prior to the scheduled start date of the vehicle rental, in accordance with the confirmed reservation. If you wish to cancel a reservation, the only acceptable method is via email. In case the cancellation is received by our company within the aforementioned fourteen (14) day period before the scheduled rental start date, it will be accepted without penalty and the full amount will be refunded to the customer. In the event that cancellation is communicated to our company after the fourteen (14) day deadline, but at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled start of the rental, the renter shall be charged a penalty clause, fairly and reasonably agreed upon by this contract, amounting to 30% of the total booking cost. The remaining 70% shall be refunded within three (3) days from the notification of the cancellation decision. If the cancellation is made after the expiration of the forty-eight (48) hour deadline before the scheduled start of the rental, the renter shall be charged the total booking amount as a fair and reasonable penalty clause.
- The vehicle will be reserved and available for you; however, if you fail to collect it within one hour from the scheduled pickup time, or, in the case of airport pickup, one hour after the scheduled arrival of your flight (provided that you have informed us of your flight number), our company reserves the unilateral right to mark the reservation as “NO SHOW.” In such case, we are under no obligation to hold the vehicle, and the company reserves the right to cancel the booking at your fault and retain any prepaid amount.
- Please check the rental vehicle upon pickup and communicate any observations to have them recorded in your Rental Agreement.
- Only the drivers mentioned in the rental agreement are allowed to drive the rented vehicle. Additional drivers may be added to the rental agreement at no extra cost.
- Child seats are available only upon prior arrangement and subject to availability, free of charge.
- It is not permitted to transport the rental vehicle by ferry or take it outside the boundaries of Naxos Island without prior written consent from the company.
- Please ensure that the car is locked when unattended.
- Do not leave personal belongings (e.g. bags) or valuables (e.g. laptops) inside the vehicle.
- The rental agreement must always be kept inside the vehicle and presented to the Police Authorities upon request.
- You must comply with the terms of the Highway Code. All fines and administrative penalties resulting from the driver’s fault are fully borne by the lessee.
- If you suspect or detect a malfunction, make sure it is safe to drive the car and schedule a repair appointment at workshops affiliated with our company. If the car is immobilized or unsafe to use, contact Roadside Assistance to arrange for the car’s transport to a workshop affiliated with our company.
- Returning the car to a station different from the one where the rental started is allowed only upon prior arrangement and agreement with the company.
- The rented vehicle must be returned after communication and agreement with the company.
- After the agreed rental period has expired, the company allows the lessee a grace period of up to 30 minutes for the return of the car without any charge. After this grace period has passed, the lessee will be charged at least the cost of an additional day.
- In case the car is returned earlier than the date shown on the reservation, no refund will be given.
- If upon return the vehicle requires cleaning beyond the usual (e.g., sea salt on the seats) to be prepared for the next rental, a biological cleaning charge of one hundred (100.00) Euros applies. For cases where we need to clean one seat of the vehicle or a child seat and not the entire interior, the charge is fifty (50.00) Euros. In case of damage to the child seat, the customer will be charged one hundred (100.00) Euros.
- At the end of the rental, the customer is obliged to return the car with the same amount of fuel in the tank as when it was received, as noted in the rental agreement. If upon return the fuel level is higher, the company will not refund the price difference. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than it had upon delivery, you must pay the difference.
- A Compass Car Rental employee will inspect the vehicle upon its return. If it has sustained any damage during the rental period, you will be required to pay the cost of repair up to the liability amount, according to the applicable insurance coverage, as well as for any shortage in fuel quantity and any necessary cleaning beyond the usual.
