NAXOS TOWN

The main feature of the central town is the majestic Portara, a historic gate 7 meters high and the trademark of Naxos. In Chora you will find many shops, lively nightlife and several historical attractions, including the Venetian castle. Nearby you will find many beaches, with golden sand and clear blue waters. One of the most popular beaches in our island is Agios Prokopios and one of the most beautiful beaches is Plaka. There, you will find many restaurants with delicious Greek food and in the afternoon, you can enjoy with a drink in your hands the spectacular sunset.

CHALKI

Chalki is a village at the center of the island. In order to visit many villages in Naxos one must first pass through Chalki. The special neoclassical architecture of its houses and the beautiful narrow streets make this village unique. Finally, it is worth tasting the famous homemade “galaktoboureko”, which is definitely the best dessert in the whole island.

APIRANTHOS

The traditional village of Apiranthos stands proudly in Mount Fanari. Its marble path, the special culture and dialect of the local inhabitants, its’ many museums and towers are some of the reasons that make this village special. The locals are passionate about music and nature and strive to keep its long-standing culture alive. Last but not least , a beautiful way to end the day exploring Apiranthos, would be drinking a much needed cup of coffee in the picturesque square of the village! For those visiting Apiranthos in the evening may have the opportunity to come across groups of locals playing and dancing to traditional music!

MOUTSOUNA

Moutsouna is a colony of Apiranthos, which is located on the East side of Naxos. A coastal paradise with sandy beaches, deep blue and clear waters and is definitely worth exploring. The aerial transport system of emery, which was one of the most important Greek miner- als, ends at Skala and it is also worth mentioning that Naxos is the only emery-producing area in Europe. Lastly, Moutsouna features a few taverns that serve fresh fish and local food, which you will get the chance to eat by the sea!

PANERMOS

The jewel of the island, hidden in a cove in East Naxos, is the furthest destination, where you will find a beautiful beach with palm trees and pebbles. What sets Panermos apart from other beaches, is that it is always sheltered from the wind. In the summer, you can also take a boat ride to the cave Rina, where you can swim inside the cave and learn about its’ unique history!
